All You Need To Know About Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is the Tuesday after every Thanksgiving in the United States of America. It has been set aside as a global giving day. An autonomous nonprofit that supports the international movement is an organization of the same name. This organization was founded by Henry Timms and United Nations Organization supported by BLK SHP.

The first-ever giving Tuesday took place on 27 November 2012. From 2013 to 2021, over $9 billion has been raised from giving Tuesday campaigns both online and offline.

Giving Tuesday has generally received excellent feedback, and many organizations have joined as partners, including Google, Microsoft, Skype, Cisco, UNICEF, the Case Foundation, Save the Children, and others. People have praised GivingTuesday as the dualism of commercial culture and as an opportunity to give back.

Though the worldwide reception of Giving Tuesday has been encouraging, and organizations across the globe are using this day to raise funds to support their causes, there is still a gap in the number of nonprofits in Africa making use of this opportunity, including Ghana.

This year a team from Giving Tuesday have launched an exclusive campaign to encourage more Ghanaian organizations to make use of Giving Tuesday and leverage it to raise funds as a way to encourage more countries to participate.

Here comes another giving Tuesday scheduled for 29 November 2022; we are looking at seeing more African organizations participating and raising significant funds from donors.
