In May 2022, the Kubi Foundation was officially founded by Prof. Effah Appiah-kubi, an Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and a medical doctor at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. This non-profit organization has a powerful vision and mission – to prioritize healthcare for underserved communities in Ghana and around the world.
The foundation’s ongoing projects are making a significant impact in various regions, including Sheini in the Northern Region, Kwasilansah in the Central Region, Kansanso in the Ashanti Region, Prampram in Greater Accra, Bisigu in the Upper East Region, Nante Zongo in the Bono East Region, Akirika in Abia State, Nigeria, Kwesakwamthethwa Reserve in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa, Kenyawegi in Kisumu District, Kenya, and Batorme in the Volta Region.
One of the notable achievements of the Kubi Foundation is the commissioning of a clinic in Sheini, Northern Ghana, which has brought healthcare and hope to the local population, particularly women. In collaboration with Eli’s Closet, an emerging fashion brand, the foundation also provided skills training to the women of Sheini, including tie-dye and jewelry making. Beyond healthcare, the foundation is dedicated to empowering women, girls, and ladies to become independent.
Every December, dedicated volunteers, employees, and students from Ohio University College of Medicine, as well as global supporters, come together to provide free medical healthcare to the communities with ongoing projects. This endeavor is both challenging and commendable, as it relies on limited funds and financial support.
