Isaac Opoku is an astute youth advocate who has tremendous national and international exposure in youth and international policy and organizational governance. He is also a young professional trained with skills in communications, global diplomacy, and youth development, and he founded Starlight Foundation, a community-based nonprofit organization that seeks to create an enabling environment where street-connected children can be empowered to attain an enhanced life.
Isaac shared his story as the son of a single woman, where he had to overcome adversities for his survival. Having persevered through this, he developed the warmth to contribute and founded with Richmond O. Kumah, from a similar background, the Starlight Foundation. They are using themselves as a beacon of hope to the street-connected children and become their voice wherever they find themselves, as they believe “Representation is the way.”
Starlight Foundation is a registered community-based nonprofit organization that seeks to create an enabling environment where street-connected children can be empowered to attain an enhanced life and a promising future by holistically focusing on their lifestyle, addressing their concerns, and generating opportunities that are constructive to their overall well-being and self-sufficiency.
Vision
Building a world of hope in which every child or youth can grow up safe, in good health, and to their full potential without any threats.
Mission
To create an enabling environment where street-connected children can be empowered to attain an enhanced life and a promising future.
We also equipped young people living in underprivileged communities with the needed skills to thrive and succeed as individuals in society.

- Isaac has successfully led 20 different projects with over 10,000 direct beneficiaries.
- He was selected as one of the TOP 10 FINALISTS for the IBRIE Social Impact Prize (2021) by the IBRIE FOUNDATION in the United Kingdom.
- Under his leadership, the Starlight Foundation has received some grants to support their projects from last year and this year as well.
- The Foundation has also received some nominations and recognition.
- Last but not least, St. Peter’s Mission Schools featured their “Teach Them Young” educational initiative on all their billboards, which were mounted all over the country, and other advertising materials like magazines, flyers, brochures, etc.
Moving forward, the Starlight Foundation has launched a family-support initiative to assist underprivileged students and street-connected children by providing a comprehensive scholarship and assisting in the reduction of streetism in Ghana while providing their parent(s) or guardian(s) with employable income-generating skills.
Final words!
‘We can do more when we come together to address the plight of street-connected children. Let’s have an attitudinal change and know that street-connected children are children first, and their rights and lives need to be protected’-Isaac Opoku
